The collection includes presentations made by Kraegel in his capacity as an actuary for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company; correspondence and minutes covering Goals for Greater Milwaukee 2000 and its creation; correspondence and reports from Action for Goals 2000; papers relating to his doctorate in urban social institutions; notes and syllabi from classes he taught at UWM; and minutes from the World Future Society-Milwaukee Chapter.
Kramer, Leon	Title: Leon Kramer Papers, 1874-1964 Quantity: 2.8 cubic ft. (3 boxes) Call Number: UWM Manuscript Collection 183 Abstract: Records of a Russian-born, New York bookseller with interests in radical political organizations. The collection consists of business correspondence, booklists and catalogues issued by Kramer, photographs of the Kramer family, and miscellaneous printed material produced by mainstream and radical American political parties.The political ephemera in the collection includes meeting announcements, party and union memberships, as well as photographs and postcards from political organizations such as the United States Socialist Party, the International Socialist Party, the Communist Party, Workers Parties, and union organizations. The remainder of the collection consists of educational materials produced by workers' education organizations in the 1920s and 1930s.
Krampert, Alfred	Title: Alfred Krampert Papers, 1962-1993 Quantity: 0.8 c.f. (2 archives boxes) Call Number: Parkside Mss 87 Abstract: Papers of conservationist and environmental activist Alfred Krampert, an insurance executive from Kenosha, Wis., documenting his involvement with the Wisconsin Chapter of the Nature Conservancy and its local organization, the Kenosha-Racine County Project Committee. The papers primarily reflect efforts to preserve the Chiwaukee Prairie, a small stretch of virgin prairie located in southeastern Kenosha County. There is also information relating to other preserves, such as Hawthorn Hollow Nature Sanctuary, the Peat Lake Wildlife Area, Ranger Mac's Fen, and Renak Woods Scientific Area, as well as a file on the Second Midwest Prairie Conference (1970). Included in the collection are clippings (documenting the land use controversy surrounding Chiwaukee Prairie); correspondence; minutes of meetings; reports; newsletters; maps; a reference file containing reprints of articles about prairie preservation and more general environmental topics; and speeches made by Mr. Krampert. There is also a small file of clippings and correspondence concerning his other civic activities.

Kraus, a Wisconsin insurance executive and Republican Party leader, pertaining to his chairmanship of the Knowles for Governor reelection campaigns of 1966 and 1968. Included are correspondence with Ody Fish, Paul Hassett, various local political leaders, and representatives of the McDonald Davis public relations firm, memoranda, campaign literature and advertisements, statistics, reports, and vote analyses.
Krause, John, 1854-1936	Title: John Krause Papers, 1865-1934 Quantity: 0.2 c.f. (1 archives box) Call Number: Mss 406 Abstract: Papers of John Krause, a North Dakota newspaper publisher and Madison, Wisconsin resident who originally emigrated from Bessarabia. Except for a small file of his writing and poetry and a few incidental official documents and clippings pertaining to events in Krause's life, the papers consist entirely of letters, mainly 1928-1931, to Krause from relatives in Europe concerning the Weimar Republic, the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, and their suffering as a result of the political and economic upheavals in Central and Eastern Europe during the post-World War I period. The documents are largely written in German script.
Kremers, Edward, 1865-1941	Title: Edward Kremers Papers, 1785-1941 Quantity: 3.8 c.f. (11 archives boxes) and photographs Call Number: Wis Mss NB; PH 3784 Abstract: Papers, mainly 1880-1941, of Edward Kremers, a former University of Wisconsin-Madison professor of pharmacy (1889-1935), together with a small group of papers of his father, Gerhard Kremers. Edward Kremers' papers document his childhood in Milwaukee; the German Reformed Church; the Mission House, a Reformed Church preparatory school; and his education and training in pharmacy at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, the University of Wisconsin, and the universities of Bonn and Goettingen. General correspondence concerns his personal life and the German religious and cultural environment in which he lived, as well as many of his later professional activities. Additional essays, reminiscences, and subject files concern various topics related to science and pharmacy, post-retirement travel, and his pro-German biases on foreign policy. A large portion of the correspondence is written in German script, although translations are included for his correspondence with his fiancée. Additional professional papers are incorporated in the extensive Kremers' Reference Collection held by the University of Wisconsin Pharmacy Library. Gerhard Kremers' papers consist of reminiscences about the family's immigration to Manitowoc County in 1848 and later to Milwaukee; “Die Reise,” a discourse on social history and religion; and school lesson books.
Krieghbaum, Hillier	Title: Hillier Krieghbaum Papers, 1950-1976 Quantity: 4.3 c.f. (8 archives boxes) Call Number: U.S. Mss 165AF Abstract: Papers of a nationally prominent journalism educator at New York University. Half of the collection documents Krieghbaum's concern with coverage of science by the mass media. This material, which consists of correspondence, speeches, articles, newsclippings, questionnaires, minutes, and reports, is especially good for his involvement with the National Science Foundation, the National Association of Science Writers, and the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing. Three boxes of correspondence, speeches, articles, and miscellany concern his membership in the Association of Journalism School Administrators and the Association for Education in Journalism. Coverage is best for his presidencies of these organizations in 1960 and 1971, respectively. The balance of the collection consists of correspondence, reports, articles, and books by Krieghbaum, and clippings about his other journalism-related activities. Located here is material pertaining to a report prepared for the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in 1959 and a survey conducted for the American Association of Industrial Editors in 1961.
Kriehn, Ruth Louise	Title: Ruth Louise Kriehn Papers, 1951-1973 Quantity: .4 cubic ft. (1 box) Call Number: UWM Manuscript Collection 94 Abstract: This collection mainly documents Ruth Kriehn's time at the Mary Wigman School of Dance in Berlin from 1951 to 1952 and her friendship with and admiration for Mary Wigman, a world-famous modern dance pioneer. Included are Kriehn's typed memoirs, letters from Wigman to Kriehn, and photographs of Wigman. Articles and newspaper clippings about Wigman are also included in the collection. The collection also contains some information about other teachers at the Wigman School, including Margret Dietz. Of particular interest are the war stories from those at the school and the descriptions of life in Berlin after the war.
Kristol, Irving, 1920-2009	Title: Irving Kristol Papers, 1946-2001 Quantity: 27.0 c.f. (26 record center cartons and 1 flat box) Call Number: Mss 1036 Abstract: Papers, 1946-2001, of Irving Kristol, a writer, editor, publisher, public speaker, and educator. Thought by many to be the father of the neoconservative movement, he made broad intellectual contributions to, and was an influence on, social and political thought. He also played a large role in facilitating, encouraging, and promoting conservative thinkers. The papers consist mainly of correspondence concerning his publishing and editorial responsibilities with Basic Books, Inc., and The Public Interest, as well as that relating to his many other general business, professional, and organizational activities. He also corresponded with a wide circle of colleagues, associates, and friends, some of whom were, or became, prominent.
Kroehnke, John O., 1810-	Title: John O. Kroehnke Diaries, 1848-1885 Quantity: 0.4 c.f. (2 archives boxes) Call Number: Milwaukee Mss 107 Abstract: Four diaries of a farmer-painter who emigrated from Schleswig-Holstein and settled in the Wisconsin communities of New Holstein and Sheboygan. The diaries, which are written in old German script, are supplemented by a complete translation of the first volume (1848-1850) into modern German and English, and by notes on the other three volumes. Although the diaries reveal little about family life, they extensively discuss his journey to Wisconsin via New York City and the Erie Canal, the process of homesteading in the wilderness, economic conditions (especially during the Civil War), and ethnic assimilation and community life. Because Kroehnke was a relatively well-educated man, his diary is also of note for linguists and paleographers.

(1 folder) and 1 tape recording Call Number: Milwaukee SC 143; Milwaukee Tape 10; Tape 978A Abstract: Photographs, newsclippings, and other materials from Krolasik, a Milwaukee tool and die maker and his wife Marie concerning organizations in which they were active, especially the Polish Young People's Alliance (Towarzystwa Zwiaku Mlodziezy Polskiej) and two bands, the Kazimierz Krolasik Orchestra and Stanley and the Original Revelers. On tape are accordion selections performed by Krolasik.

(8 archives boxes) Call Number: Wis Mss IK Abstract: Correspondence and addresses of Theodore Kronshage, a resident of Boscobel, Wis., and Milwaukee, dealing with his services as a member of the Wisconsin Board of Normal School Regents, 1907-1917, of the Board of University Regents, 1921-1927, and of the Public Service Commission, 1931-1934, and his connections with business, legal, newspaper, and municipal affairs and with Progressive politics.
Krooth, Richard; Krooth, Ann Baxandall	Title: Richard and Ann Baxandall Krooth Papers, 1955-1968 Quantity: 1.2 c.f. (3 archives boxes) Call Number: Mss 1010 Abstract: Papers of attorney Richard Krooth and his wife, Ann Baxandall Krooth, both of whom were social activists in the 1960s. Most of the materials were collected or created by Richard Krooth during the course of his employment as Community Consultant for the Anti-Defamation League's Southeast regional office during 1963-1964. Rather than directly documenting the activities of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), this collection documents the issues that civil rights workers were concerned with: desegregation, discrimination, suffrage, community organizing, civil rights legislation, and right wing opposition groups. Additionally, there is a small amount of material related to the Madison Free University, a group organized in 1968 by Ann Baxandall Krooth and other students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in opposition to the traditional university model of education.
Krueger, Clifford W., 1918-	Title: Clifford W. Krueger Papers, 1968-1983 Quantity: 14 c.f. (14 record center cartons), 1 reel of microfilm [35mm], and 2 tape recordings Call Number: Stevens Point Mss AL; Stevens Point Micro 22; Micro 1002; Tape 1092A Abstract: Legislative papers of a former Senate Republican minority leader, 1975-1980, who served in the Wisconsin Legislature from 1946 to 1955 and from 1957 to 1982. Included are general and legislative correspondence, subject files, constituent problem files, and oral history interviews. During his long career in the Senate Krueger was well known for the moderate influence which he brought to the Republican Party because of his Progressive roots and for his advocacy of the interests of the northern part of the state. Unfortunately the collection includes no paper documentation which is earlier than 1968, and only the 1975-1982 period is covered well. Even for this period, the documentation is disappointing on many of the areas for which he is best known. This is compensated for in part by an extensive, separately-catalogued oral history interview. Topics which are well covered in the collection include aging, environmental issues, forestry, mining, the Bethesda Lutheran Home, the Lincoln Hills School, reapportionment, and UW-Medford.

Krueger, Jack, 1914-2000	Title: Jack Krueger Papers, 1922-1978 Quantity: 2.2 c.f. (1 record center carton and 4 archives boxes) Call Number: Milwaukee Mss 205 Abstract: Papers of newsman Jack Krueger documenting his long association with the Milwaukee Journal Stations, WTMJ-TV and WTMJ AM and FM radio as a reporter and public affairs manager and his activities in several professional associations. The papers also reflect the transition in the country's focus from radio to television. The collection contains WTMJ internal correspondence and memoranda; reports and surveys on television and radio programming, speeches given by broadcast journalists and regulators, and minutes, reports, and other records pertaining to the National Association of Radio News Directors and the Radio-Television News Directors Association.
Krug, Merton E., 1907-1958	Title: Merton E. Krug Papers, 1831-1956 Quantity: 0.8 c.f. (3 archives boxes) and 39 photographs Call Number: Mss 598; PH 3773 Abstract: Papers, mainly 1928-1956, of Merton E. Krug, an amateur Wisconsin historian primarily known for his work on the Upper Baraboo Valley and the trader, John Baptiste DuBay. Included are genealogical materials for the Fish family to which he was related, autobiographical documents, college term papers containing personal information and information on Wisconsin history, research material, and assorted writings including newspaper articles, poems, an address, and an incomplete manuscript and proofs for his research on General William Hull. Of special note is an account book, 1831-1866, detailing the financial activities of farmer-entrepreneur Henry Darrow, a relative who was an early settler of Walworth and Sauk counties, Wisconsin.

Collection consists of group photographs, speeches, a U.S. Senate report on labor rights, and ribbons and buttons from Krzycki's political and labor career.
Krzyzanowski Family	Title: Krzyzanowski Family Papers, 1886-2003 Quantity: 2.7 c.f. (5 archives boxes, 1 flat box, and 1 oversize folder), 397 photographs and 4 drawings (4 archives boxes and 1 flat box), and 555 negatives (1 negative box) Call Number: Mss 990; PH 6422 Abstract: Papers of a family who emigrated from Russian Poland to Wisconsin in the 1890s, consisting of correspondence, personal and business records, a diary, family scrapbooks, photographs, and negatives. The bulk of the collection relates to Estelle Krzyzanowski Schulze (1895-1969) and her daughter, Dorothea Schulze Wong (1920- ), and documents their close relationship, Estelle's marriage, divorce and remarriage to Reinhardt Schulze (1893-1955), Estelle's work as a beautician and owner of several beauty shops in Milwaukee, Dorothea's upbringing and schooling, and their relationships with other family members. Materials which relate to Reinhardt Schulze include correspondence and ephemera from his time in the army, a family sketch, and a few personal papers. The collection also documents Sophia Olszewski Krzyzanowski (1879-1954) and Jacob Krzyzanowski (1871-1933) and their children--Joseph, Muriel, Maryanna, Anthony Benjamin, Helene, Thaddeus, and Jerome--mostly through their correspondence with Estelle, in genealogical materials, and in photographs in the extensive family scrapbooks.
