Abstract: Papers of the Committee on Political Education (COPE), the AFL-CIO agency formed to enunciate policy on political issues, and to analyze the records and qualifications of political candidates. Also includes files of COPE's two predecessors, Labor's League for Political Education of the AFL, and the CIO's Political Action Committee. Includes correspondence, reports, lists, newspaper clippings, and other printed material concerning congressional elections, arranged by state, 1948-1954; and clippings and reports concerning Senator Joseph R. McCarthy, 1946-1957. The tape recordings consist of COPE reports (May-July, 1972).

Abstract: Records of the Wisconsin Regional Office of the AFL-CIO, which was the AFL-CIO's primary contact point with central labor bodies and with directly-affiliated locals (locals not associated with any international union). Since 1974, there has been no regional office in Wisconsin and the state is covered by the Chicago regional office. The records document the structure and activities of the state labor councils, directly affiliated local unions, and the regional office, as well as the relationship between the regional office and its affiliates.

Abstract: Records of Local 1 of the Wisconsin State Employees Association, a Madison area labor union whose members are employees of Wisconsin government agencies. The local is affiliated with AFSCME (American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees). Local 1 was created in 1942, after a restructuring within WSEA. The records consist of administrative and governance files including the Local 1 constitution, resolutions passed, member lists, newsletters, and office procedures; minutes from Local 1 Meetings and WSEA Executive Meetings; correspondence with WSEA, with AFSCME, and with members; and monthly financial statements including monthly balance sheets and statements of profit and loss.
