Abstract:
Records of the Kenosha Service League of Kenosha, Wisconsin, a social welfare charitable organization founded in 1910. The League focused on assisting families with financial difficulties and served as a resource to coordinate support, secure medical treatment, adequate housing and employment in addition to addressing mental health issues. The records consist primarily of scrapbooks of newspaper clippings which document press coverage of the organization and its activities but also include annual reports, brochures, mental health treatment program materials and the organization’s constitution and articles of incorporation. Additionally, the collection documents financial activities, the number of families or individuals assisted by type of need, and the changing attitudes that motivated the League’s social welfare activities from 1913 through the 1950s.
