Abstract: Papers, dating mainly from 1894-1938, of John R. Commons, an economist, labor historian, expert on government regulation, and long-time University of Wisconsin-Madison faculty member. The files best document Commons' research interests including labor history, labor economics, an unemployment compensation plan for the Chicago clothing market, banking and monetary reform, and the regulation of interstate commerce.
