Working papers of the Railroad Commissioner's office relating to an investigation of railway companies concerning possible violations of Wisconsin laws through discriminatory rates, illegal deductions, and earnings not reported leading to understatement of income and consequent underpayment of taxes. The railway companies investigated were the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul; Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha; Chicago and Northwestern; and the Wisconsin Central. The papers consist entirely of presentations of figures of deductions from freight and passenger earnings, vouchers, car switching, car mileage, recapitulations, demurrage, mileage paid car companies, switching collections, and gross freight earnings. Also included is a printed report of Commissioner John W. Thomas, July 6, 1906. English
