Biography/History

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lodi, Wisconsin, was founded in 1878. In 1882 the first church was built on the county line, but in 1903 the congregation moved to a new church in Lodi.

Scope and Content Note

The records of the Evangelical Lutheran Church are contained in two volumes. The first is a secretary's record book containing the constitution of the church, a short history, and reports and accounts dating from 1877 to 1936. The second volume is a ministerial book containing records from 1897 to 1920. Baptismal records are included giving such information as dates of birth and baptism, and the names of the child, parents, and witnesses. Confirmation records list the confirmant's name, places of residence and confirmation, dates of birth, baptism, and confirmation, and the names of the parents. Included in the marriage records are the names and ages of the bride and groom, the date of the wedding, the names of parents and witnesses, and their residences. The death records give the name, age, dates of death and burial, place of birth, and parents' names. Also in the ministerial record book are lists of the church's membership and daily and weekly accounts.
