The UWM Photographic Services office is responsible for taking official university
photographs, as well as those documenting events and student life. From 1956 to
1960, Photographic Services was the Photo Lab, part of UWM Campus Services. The
Photo Lab was an independent entity until 1965, when it was renamed the Department
of Photography. In 1971, the department name changed to Photographic Services.
Photographic Services was part of the Instructional Media Laboratory from 1975 to
1976. In 2002, it was subsumed under Visual Imaging, itself a sub-division of
University Information Technology Services (UITS).
