Segment 3, 1939-1982 (primarily 1955-1979)
This segment of the Plant Industry Division General Correspondence and Subject files are divided into six major categories: weeds, potato nematode, chronological files, reports, news clippings, and pesticides. The contents of each category, except for potato nematode and the chronological files, are fairly clearly shown in the Container List which follows.
The potato nematode files contain maps of infected fields, reports, correspondence, and holding orders.
Strictly alphabetical correspondence files were weeded from the chronological files, as were routine administrative materials dealing with personnel and financial matters. The Container List gives only the year of material in each box, but an idea of the kinds of subjects covered in these files can be gleaned from the folder listing of the 1967 files below:
