Scope and Content Note

William Blunt, a lifetime resident of Wisconsin, travelled to Texas with family to help them resettle in the state; Blunt attended a meeting of preachers, one of which was preaching against slavery. Blunt was arrested, threatened with death, and whipped for his association with the abolitionist; returned home to Wisconsin and asks for intervention for his treatment in Texas, also disassociates himself from Republicans and abolitionists.
