Vernon W. Thomson Papers, 1941-1974

Scope and Content Note

The Historical Society holds two groups of Vernon Thomson Papers, with the distinction between them being based largely on provenance and former restrictions pertaining to the original donor agreement. Public Records Series 15 and 16—Thomson's gubernatorial papers—came to the Historical Society from the Governor's office. Manuscript collection 304 consists of a portion of his congressional correspondence, and some speeches and press and publicity files that span his years as attorney general and his gubernatorial and congressional careers. All of these files were shipped to the Historical Society from Thomson's Washington, D.C. office.
