Glen E. Pommerening Papers, 1961-1965

Biography/History

Glen E. Pommerening was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on September 27, 1927. In 1950 he received a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin and an LL.D. in 1953. Until his election to the state Assembly in 1954, he practiced law. In the Assembly he represented the 20th District of Milwaukee (City of Wauwatosa) for six terms, through 1967. Currently Mr. Pommerening is serving in the Wisconsin Department of Administration.

While in the Assembly he served on a number of legislative committees, of which the following are some of the more prominent.

  1. Board on Government Operations (vice-chm., 1963)
  2. Building Commission (vice-chm., 1963, 1965)
  3. Joint Committee on Finance (chm., 1963)
  4. Legislative Council and Committee of 25 (during the 1963-1965 interim)
  5. Tax Compromise Committees (member, 1963, 1965)
