Kasten's Congressional papers include bill files, correspondence, reference files, committee memoranda, news clippings from his service on the House Select Committee on Intelligence, voting record analyses, and a legislative profile of Kasten.
Papers documenting Kasten's Senate career are more extensive and are organized into six series: Press Office Records (press releases, photographs, and speeches); Videotapes (interviews, press conferences, public service announcements and campaign ads); Constituent Correspondence (incoming and outgoing mail, including “robo” letters, and mainly on microfilm) and “Dirty Dozen Reports” (staff analyses of incoming correspondence by topic); Legal Counsel's Files (research files mainly on product liability); Policy Director's Files (project books, primarily concerning environmental issues, consisting of policy statements, memoranda, speeches, significant letters, and Kasten's voting record on specific issues); and Small Business Committee Records (briefing books, statements, memoranda, policy statements, correspondence with Wisconsin small business owners and interest groups, newsletters, press releases, and clippings).
