Scope and Content Note: Scrapbook consisting of photographs and paintings taken from The Milwaukee Journal from circa 1932-1940. Many of the images depict city scenes in and around Madison, Sheboygan, Beloit, Milwaukee, and Racine, among other cities. Some of the buildings represented include the Oshkosh Winnebago and Oneida County Courthouses, the James Duane Doty and Old Melchoir Houses, an abandoned blockhouse near Platteville, several railroad depots, and several churches. There are also come rural scenes including the La Crosse Grandad Bluff, the Milwaukee River, Devils Lake, and the Wisconsin Dells as well as several portraits including Chief Silver Tongue, Madeline Smith, Solomon Juneau, and Wisconsin State Supreme Court Justices Jason Downer, Silas Pinney, William Penn Lyon, and David Taylor.
