Scope and Content Note: Maggiore was a founding member of the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT). This organization focused on educating low-income populations in efficient energy use, exploring alternative energy sources such as solar power, and communicating the energy needs of low-income people to the federal government. The materials are primarily from the early stages of NCAT's development, including the original proposal, annual reports, and a small number of publications.

Scope and Content Note: The Fuel Oil Marketing Advisory Committee (FOMAC) was part of the U. S. Department of Energy. During the middle of a national energy crisis, this committee was charged with studying the energy consumption and energy needs of the poor. The majority of records included in the collection are transcripts of meetings. Also included is a small amount of correspondence and a copy of the committee's final report.

Scope and Content Note: Following FOMAC's final report, the government established the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program, which was later renamed the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This federal program provides federal funds designated for energy assistance to low-income populations. The records in this series are divided into materials related to the federal program and materials related to the Wisconsin state program. The records consist of correspondence, publications, transcripts of congressional testimony, meeting materials, and reports.

Scope and Content Note: This survey-based research project concentrated on homicides against minors, in both gang-related and non-gang related incidents. Research began in 1989, and went through several phases. The project was completed in 2000. The Milwaukee Homicide Project (MHP) was conducted through the UWM Department of Geography using federal grant monies. The records consist of correspondence, grant proposals, a transcript of congressional testimony, and the final report.

Scope and Content Note: This Disproportionate Minority Confinement Program (DMC) was originally initiated by the Office of Justice and Juvenile Delinquency Prevention, but Maggiore's involvement concentrated primarily on the Milwaukee area. Through this program, he was able to organize the Milwaukee Violence and Gang Reduction Project. The papers in this series reflect materials relating to the federal program, meeting materials of the Milwaukee Planning Committee for DMC, and materials of the Milwaukee Violence and Gang Reduction Project.
